EKP Guidelines for participative work
The basic assumption is that knowledge acquisition is strongly participatory,
i.e. all involved
actors and stakeholders in an organisation are assumed to contribute
to the knowledge
development activity. EKP developers have elaborated a set of guidelines
how to carry out partiicipative modelling and knowledge acquisition in
organisations. The main reasons for adopting a participative approach to
modelling are:
-
The quality of the models is enhanced because models are created
in collaboration between stakeholders, rather than resulting from a consultant’s
interpretation of interviews
-
Consensus is improved because modelling participants have to collectively
expose their thinking, meaning that they have to establish a direct conflict
or strive towards consensus.
-
Achievement of acceptance and commitment is facilitated because
stakeholders are actively involved in the decision-making process.
More about the participative way of working is written in the EKP
User Guide.
