SELECT

Add Red Stars
to your Web Pages

It does not Cost you Anything!
We are offering you, free of cost, a facility to add red stars to your links. The stars show how good other people found the linked web page, and will thus make your links more valuable.

Examples
A single link with red stars in your web page might look like this:
Client-side proxies 8.0

Example of a web page in which red stars have been added to all the links, and in which users can submit their own ratings.

How to do it
It is very easy to enhance your web pages with SELECT ratings. Just follow the example in the web page above. You do not even have to ask us for permission first, but we would appreciate if you told us that you are adding SELECT ratings to your web pages, write to select@dsv.su.se.

Choices in Using SELECT
This page describes in more technical detail some choices how you can use SELECT.

Gold, White and Black
There are mainly three kinds of web page ratings:

  1. Goldballing (finding the best pages)
  2. Blackballing (blocking unsuitable pages)
  3. Whiteballing (letting through only suitable pages)

SELECT is mainly aimed at goldballing. This is very different from PICS, which is mainly aimed at blackballing and whiteballing!
