Ubiquitous Computerbased Work and Communication: Short term goals.
|
Short term goals for the KFB project
To study the invariance of workspace problem in the following
constrained setting:
- personal office work and communication as the generic tasks
- standard office and email communication software as the studied service
- PC's and a personal digital assistant (PDA) as the two kind of
terminal artifacts.
- Ethernet, ISDN and GSM as the three modes of communication.
The study involves:
- empirical studies of the invariance of workspace problem: what do the
users need, and how is it fulfilled today?
- a configuration of three terminal artifacts (stationary PC, laptop and PDA)
for UCWandC use, using 'off the shelf' hardware and software.
- design of a personal software assistant to overcome the current limitations
with respect to the invariance of workspace problem.
