Short term goals for the KFB project

To study the invariance of workspace problem in the following constrained setting:

• personal office work and communication as the generic tasks
• standard office and email communication software as the studied service
• PC's and a personal digital assistant (PDA) as the two kind of terminal artifacts.
• Ethernet, ISDN and GSM as the three modes of communication.

The study involves:

• empirical studies of the invariance of workspace problem: what do the users need, and how is it fulfilled today?
• a configuration of three terminal artifacts (stationary PC, laptop and PDA) for UCWandC use, using 'off the shelf' hardware and software.
• design of a personal software assistant to overcome the current limitations with respect to the invariance of workspace problem.
