Tharaka Ilayperuma is a member of DSV/SYSLAB research group headed by Professor Paul Johannesson. As a group, they focus on issues related to Business and Process and Service Modelling. In partcular Tharaka's research interests include: Ontologies for Business Modelling and Interoperability between them, Value Modelling, Goal Modelling, systematic desiging of Business Models based on Goal Models, value-oriented services elicitation, and use of Business Ontological frameworks for model-driven design of e-servces. . The outcomes of these research activities are published in various scientific forums and these publications are listed in the PUBLICATIONS section.

He obtained the degree of Licentiate of Philosophy (PhL) in September, 2007 and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer and Systems Sciences from Stockholm University in December, 2010. From 2004 to 2010, his research activities at DSV were funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in Sweden.
