Malik Silva area of research is Computer Systems specifically, Cache-friendly Algorithms in Scientific Computing. The performance of an irregular computation (e.g., unstructured meshes and sparse matrix computations) depends critically on whether most of the data accesses can be performed within the cache. My research will address issues involved in reordering data accesses within an algorithm and in developing algorithmic variants for scientific computing the enable high cache performance.
