April 2009 - Master Thesis Project
Customizable mobile interfaces is a project conducted at KTH in cooperation with
SO4IT
for elderly and visually impaired people.
The first part of the thesis was to understand deeply the problems elderly face and try to figure out a way to solve them by giving them
the opportunity to have a mobile application that fits their preferences.
The solution provided was a framework through which the user can create her own application. The user can choose the functionality of the mobile phone as well as
various components in order to create the desired interfaces. The whole framework is addressed to elderly needs but it can be extended for covering
the needs of everyone.
The framework parses the XML commands that the user adds and produces Java ME source code and the application in jar format.
The project was initiated and supervised by Alex Olwal.
