The first course of the game developer education at DSV. In other words my first game. We had two weeks to design a game using Multimedia Fusion 2.0
We wanted a humorous adventure controlled by moving with the keyboard and aiming with the mouse. Fredrik who I worked with had a friend who is great at impressions so we decided that the playable character could be someone who sounds as Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Top-view 2D shooter with humorous features, two exciting levels with a boss as a climax.
We divided the two levels and the boss fight we worked together on, since it was made in mmf 2 the task were mainly level design, so I did the second level and we did the boss encounter together.
Since it was a criteria from the course leader to use Multimedia Fusion 2.0 it was a easy choice.
First we had a long discussion of different game ideas and finally decided on my idea that at time only were the controls(use keyboard for movement and mouse for aiming in a top down view) This later evolved to the game it become. After we both were satisfied with the game idea we started figuring out how to make things work with mmf 2. We then divided the first two levels and worked on alone and when they were done we sat down together and created the boss battle and added the sounds.
Our greatest problem was the aiming with the mouse, after trying for hours and the course instructor was unable to help us we were almost giving up hope. But we finally got help from someone who had a similar game mechanics. Our conclusion was that mmf 2 were very contra intuitive on this feature.
We have a bug(wont tell where) that should not happen, it only happens once in ten games or so and when the instructor said it shouldn't happen we just let it stay there.
We had a great collaboration when making this game and almost everything went well. All in all I am very pleased with the result.
