ICAI

Intelligent Computer-Assisted Instruction (ICAI) refers (according to Silver Head) to  computerized tutors, which

    • Provide highly interactive, computer-delivered education and training
    • Tailor instruction to individual student's strengths and weaknesses
    • Provide coaching by artificially intelligent instructional agents
    • Capitalize on cognitively engineered instructional methods

While Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) refers to traditional computerized tutors, which

    • Provide only limited interactivity
    • Deliver one-size-fits-all instructional sequences
    • May provide limited feedback when students answer incorrectly
    • Generally are based on notional ideas about learning
