The European project e-Meeting Platform has as its objective to create a platform for e-meetings in which meeting participants can communicate and share information in real time and which is easy to use, quickly accessible and available at a low cost.
Existing digital meeting and conference systems are often perceived as inflexible. They are tied to particular suppliers and in general restricted to one type of information bearer. Many solutions are technically so advanced that the thresholds to learn about a system or to use one on a particular occasion are viewed as obstacles that are too high. Moreover, they are usually costly and for all of these reasons not widely used.

At the same time, there is a need to increase efficient cooperation and reducing labor costs, unrestricted by distances and national borders, in both the private and public sectors. There is a general need to increase competitiveness by more efficient co-operation. The proposed solution is meant to help meet these needs by supporting efficient e-meetings by enabling individuals to attend or run virtual online meetings while presenting and exchanging documents and keeping abreast with developments in projects. Participants are to be able to do this independently of specific locations, suppliers or information bearers.

The project will utilize existing and accepted technologies for communication and create means to connect these to and through the platform. The project consists of two main parts. One part concerns the functionality, interfaces and tools of the platform. The other part is the development of the underlying platform. KTH is mainly involved in the former, focusing on the interaction design and as well as usability issues.

KTH genomför för närvarande ett projekt för utveckling av stöd för möten på distans och vi är intresserade av vad som är viktigast i sådana system, och vill därför gärna veta hur dina möten (både vanliga och distansmöten) ser ut idag och få synpunkter på system som du kanske använder. Vår målsättning är att kunna bidra till enklare, mer lättanvända system med högre "användbarhet" och det är därför dina synpunkter skulle vara så värdefulla för oss.

Du behöver inte ha använt några stöd för e-möten för att besvara enkäten -- det är intressant att få kommentarer även från dem som inte använder sådana stöd men kanske skulle kunna ha behov av sådana därför att de deltar i många möten, reser mycket, samarbetar med folk på annan ort, osv.
