Hillevi Sundholm

PhD in Human-Computer Interaction at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, Stockholm University/The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden

June 1, 2007, I defended my thesis Spaces within Spaces: The Construction of a Collaborative Reality. The thesis consists of a summary and 5 papers. The summary could be found here.

Background

I have a MSc in Cognitive Science from Linköping University. My third year I did as a Erasmus student at Philipps-Universität Marburg in Germany. And before all that I have studied one year Musicology at Lund University.

During my PhD studies I have spent almost two years at Laboratoire de Design Cognitif at Electricité de France (EDF) R&D in Clamart, France. For the first half I received a Marie Curie Fellowship in Social Representation and Communication of which l'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris is part of. For the second half I had an internship at EDF R&D.

Research interest

The research I do is within the areas of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL), and I am particularly interested in collaborative work, communication, interaction with artifacts, and the concept(s) space (and place).

Five works/books I like: The Social Construction of Reality: A Treastise in the Socology of Knowledge by Peter Berger and Thomas Luckman; The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life by Erving Goffman; Using Language by Herbert Clark; Action and Embodiment within Situated Human Interaction a paper by Charles Goodwin; Space and Place by Yi-Fu Tuan.
