Carl Gustaf Jansson received a M.Sc. in Engineering Physics at KTH in 1975 and a Ph.D in Technical Computer Science at KTH in 1986. Appointed assistant professor in Artificial Intelligence 1988 and associate professor in Artificial Intelligence in 1993. Jansson«s field of research is Artificial Intelligence, in particular Knowledge Representation (thesis work) and Machine Learning (managing a research group since 1987). Current interests include the application of artificial intelligence techniques in human-computer-interaction, in particular adaptive interfaces.
Current roles include:
- Acting professor and research director for K2LAB at DSV.
- Deputy head of department and Chairman of the graduate study committee at DSV.
- Chairman of the Center of Information Technology and Cognitive Science.
- Chairman of the Swedish AI Society and Observer in the board of ECCAI.
- Local Organization Chair for IJCAI-99 in Stockholm.
- Scientific advisor at SICS.
- Member of the board for the Electrum Foundation.
- Senior researcher in the European Science Foundation program on Learning in Humans and Machines: Taskforce 5 - Collaborative Learning and member of the IFIP WG 12.2: Machine Learning.
Member of:
- the expert group for the planning of a national research network in Human Machine Interaction funded by the Foundation for Strategic Research. See further the proposal for a node
of such a network in Stockholm.
- the interimistic management committee for C&C- a planned strategic research
center for future telecommunication systems (the Foundation for Strategic Research).
